A Sporty New Look for the BMW R1250RS

This project features a BMW R1250RS M Concept Graphic Decal, designed to give the R1250RS a more dynamic and sporty appearance while keeping the original character of the motorcycle.

The R1250RS has a distinctive combination of sharp fairing lines, flowing bodywork, and a sporty touring character. Rather than covering these lines with a graphic, our goal was to work with the shape of the motorcycle and make the graphic feel like part of the original design.

For this concept, we used colors inspired by the BMW M color palette and developed them into a clean, modern graphic design.

The motorcycle comes first. The graphic follows its lines.

Designed Around the Motorcycle

A motorcycle decal is more than a printed graphic.

When a design is applied to multiple fairing panels, every section needs to work together. A line that looks correct on one panel may look completely different once it reaches another panel or follows a curved surface.

This is why we start with the motorcycle itself.

For the R1250RS, we considered the shape of each fairing, the curves of the bodywork, and the connection between individual panels when developing the graphic.

The result is a design where the graphic lines flow naturally across the motorcycle instead of looking like separate stickers placed on different parts.

Precision Starts with the Template

One of the most important parts of our decal production is the model-specific template.

GRID PERFORMANCE develops motorcycle-specific templates in-house and uses them as the foundation for both the design and the cutting process.

An accurate template allows us to consider:

The exact shape of each panel
Curved and recessed areas
Graphic alignment between panels
Edge and finishing areas
Installation requirements
The overall visual flow of the motorcycle

This process is especially important for motorcycles such as the R1250RS, where several fairing sections come together to create one continuous body shape.

Good graphic design starts with an accurate understanding of the motorcycle.

Precision Pre-Cut Graphic Decal

The R1250RS decal is produced as a model-specific precision pre-cut kit.

Instead of applying a large sheet of vinyl and trimming it directly on the motorcycle, the individual pieces are precisely cut according to the dedicated R1250RS template.

This helps reduce unnecessary trimming during installation and allows the edges, panel transitions, and graphic placement to be finished more consistently.

For us, the quality of a motorcycle decal is not only about how it looks on a computer screen.

It is about how it looks after it has been installed on the actual motorcycle.

Premium Vinyl Materials

We use premium branded vinyl materials from manufacturers such as 3M, Avery Dennison, and LX for our motorcycle graphics.

Motorcycles have more complex curves and smaller individual panels than many automotive applications. Because of this, material quality and workability are important parts of the production process.

We select materials with both the visual quality of the graphic and the practical requirements of motorcycle installation in mind.
